LinkedIn: Best-Kept Business Secrets for Real Estate Agents

Did you know one of the less utilized but more robust platforms for real estate agents is LinkedIn? According to a HubSpot study, "LinkedIn is 277% more effective for lead generation than Facebook and Twitter". Are you optimizing your LinkedIn to the fullest potential? Learn the tips you need to optimize your business by making tons of connections with clients, potential clients, gaining referrals, building relationships, and much more below.

Tip 1: Publish Lots of Content

Posting a significant amount of content is essential to grow leads, connections, and engagement. Focus on creating and sharing unique business-related content that provides knowledge and value to your target audience.

In addition, it would help if you focused on distributing your unique content and sharing articles that are interesting and relatable. Types of content should include blog posts, news stories, articles, studies, and you should upload your important content in the featured section on your page.

Start slow and work up to posting content 3-5x a week in the LinkedIn news feed. Remember, do not spam your feed with listings or offerings; instead, utilize LinkedIn stories to include listings, open houses, videos, and podcasts.

Tip 2: Join LinkedIn Real Estate and Professional Groups

Joining different groups relative to your business can increase lead generation, establish referral sources, and help build relationships in your local community and outside within the larger marketplace.

When searching professional groups, I suggest going by location to connect with the ideal clients you want to target. Use the advanced search feature to discover current leads' background information and identify new prospects.

Use LinkedIn's recommended connections feature, which allows you to easily connect with people who may already be in your professional network and expand your reach by clicking "My Network" and reviewing the "Recommended for you" section.

Action Steps:

  • Send ten connections to people every day

  • Join at least three groups on LinkedIn

  • Remain active in them, join in, or start new discussions

Tip 3: Utilizing a Showcase Page

There are different types of pages you can set up on LinkedIn for your business, a Company Page and Showcase Page.

Your Company page demonstrates all the vital information about your company, what you do, links for your website, and contact information.

A Showcase Page is used to relay even more business information and is linked to your dedicated landing pages (like your blog or your "about me" page). You can set up one or more Showcase Pages to promote your blog posts, promotional offers, or any other pertinent information you want your audience to know.

Tip 4: Allow LinkedIn to Connect with Your Email Contacts

When you first join, build out your profile, follow the prompt to allow LinkedIn access to your contact list, to invite established contacts to connect with you on LinkedIn automatically. Then, with easy additional plug-ins, you can start connecting fast and efficiently.

When connecting with individuals, you should always write a personalized message to remind them of who you are. If you are making new connections, you will want to provide some value as to why they should connect with you. Introduce yourself, who you are, what you're interested in, asking a question, having a personalized message attached will increase the likelihood of being accepted.

Tip 5: LinkedIn Premium - Advantages

LinkedIn Premium can excel you to the next step in your journey. The many quality features can provide more significant insights and advantages for agents. There are multiple tier levels for premium packages that range in different price points. The two that I see as most relevant for real estate would be the business and sales navigator professional packages.

Some features include:

  • Who is viewing your profile

  • Unlimited people browsing

  • InMail Messages which gives you the ability to message people who are not in your network

  • Custom lead and account lists

  • Advanced lead search and account search

  • 10,000 saved leads
