How to Ask for Testimonials as a Realtor

In this day and age, where social media and internet influence is high, product/service reviews and testimonials are a crucial aspect of the selling process. Personally, I can’t remember the last time I purchased something online without reading customer reviews first, because it gives me special insight about the product from another customer’s perspective. With a huge investment like a house, buyers want to make sure their buying process goes perfectly, so how can you ensure that?

Past client testimonials!

In this article, we’re going to look at 3 tips that can help you receive strong testimonials and easily build trust with your clients.

It’s all about timing

You just helped a client find their dream home and all is well, but then comes the time to ask them to share their experience. While it could seem daunting, that is no reason to delay the ask — that’ll only make it less likely to receive one at all. Don’t wait too long after the closing process to reach out to your client, as it can dilute their interest to cooperate and even forget much of the experiences they had.

Make it personal

During the lengthy process of selling a property, it’s common to create a strong bond with your client. So when you reach out to them for a testimonial, make it personal. Ask how they’re settling into their new home or how their family is doing instead of jumping straight into your request. This can further establish your positive relationship with the client and could boost your testimonial.

Give guidance

For many customers, the process of writing a review can also be stressful and they may not know where to start. An easy way to combat this is by guiding them with a template. This could be in the form of a survey or just specific details about how the review can be written. For example, you could tell them how many lines they can write. Some helpful questions include:

  • Would you recommend me to family or friends?

  • What was the most positive experience you had with me?

  • What made you choose me over other agents?

This way clients will know exactly what they should include in their review, making the process a whole lot easier.

So there you have it — 3 simple tips to help you ask for testimonials and build trust between future clients. Reviews might seem overwhelming to ask for, and even write, but with these steps you can make the process easier for yourself and your clients!
